One Piece

Package Design

I’ve been watching the anime, One Piece, for a while and have hundreds of episodes to go. So I said, “Let’s design a product for each of the characters.” And that’s what I have done.

Swordsman’s Sake

Design guided by research! I learned that there were different types of sake and that they are labeled in a specific way. This is a sake line that I would like to see in real life. Taking inspiration from existing sake brands, I wanted to find a balance between familiarity and fun (the anime part.)

Sanji’s Tout Bleu

Canned seafood packaging for Sanji! I created cans of seafood that Chef Sanji encountered during his sea travels. I wanted to capture Sanji’s curly eyebrows in the typeface so I hand drew them. I also wanted the pattern of the can to compliment the type so the logo was also hand drawn.

Luffy Bazooka Chewing Gum

Inspired by one of Luffy’s power moves came out this chewing gum packaging! Made it meat flavor, one of Luffy’s favorite foods. It is odd. But that’s who he is. Went for a hand drawn font as Luffy is a character that can’t really be defined and is a wonky character himself.

Nico’s Cinco Fleur Flower Shop

Inspired by one of Nico Robin’s power moves “Cinfo Fleur.” Nico, I would say, is the most distinguished member of the Straw Hat pirates. While her power is definitely a more feminine one, I also wanted to contrast that with how strong she actually is. The bolder serif font represents her strong character and the stability she brings to the team.
